Top of the day ladies and gents.
So the next Miss Perry Presents can be revealed! I am delighted to announce that We Are Augustines are going to grace the stage at my next clubnight at the Hare and Hounds, with Birmingham Promoters.
This all happens on May 6th….with the delightful news that the next day is a BANK HOLIDAY..so we can party late. Excellent.
We Are Augustines have been showing their wares out in South By South West over the past few months, and picking up LOADS of new fans by the minute it seems…
Their last record received the Alternative Album of the year award from iTunes in the US, and now they return with a brand new record – Rise Ye Sunken Ships. With mass airplay on Kerrang, Q, 6 music, Radio 1 and XFM, this is a great chance to see them at your local…
..and after they’ve finished..we’ve got the late liscence so I’ll be DJing until the early hours.

“If that sounds like heavy, difficult listening, it is. These songs tear the flesh from your bones with gentle devastation. But, in their tremulous, spirited delivery and their layered structures – at once sparse and orchestral – they also inspire a sense of hope for the future and a glimmer of redemption.
It’s bombastic but it’s broken, anthemic yet withdrawn, extroverted yet timid and uncertain – think Bruce Springsteen at his most emotionally candid and cathartic but channelled through the broken bones of early Arcade Fire – and it serves as a hard-hitting reminder of the strength of the human spirit. “Everything dies, baby, that’s a fact,” Springsteen himself told us on Atlantic City, but he countered that depressing fact with an wistful, uncertain wish, that “maybe everything that dies someday comes back.” Rise Ye Sunken Ships is the embodiment of that thought – the phoenix rising from the flames, scarred yet triumphant, sad and solemn but alive.” BBC
And here they are on Letterman… (WOW)
Until then, I’ve got a wedding to go to…and need to find a hat. QUICK!
